One of several pamphlets connected with the "Whitsitt Controversy", which concerned opinions on the history of baptism and Baptists held by William Heth Whitsitt, then president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. J. H. Eaton was the son of Thomas Treadwell Eaton.
