Abstract
This project examines leadership equipping within the context of Gospel Community Church in Santa Cruz, California, with the goal of training the staff to equip others. Drawing on key biblical texts and secular leadership theory, the study implements an eight-week training series with the five staff members of Gospel Community Church. Chapter 1 outlines the ministry context of Gospel Community Church and provides a rationale for the project’s focus, outlining the project goals and research methods. Chapter 2 focuses on four key biblical texts on the topic of equipping, demonstrating the importance of leadership development for God’s people in both the Old and New Testaments. Chapter 3 addresses practical considerations related the project, drawing on insights from modern leadership theory. Chapter 4 details the implementation of the training series, and chapter 5 analyzes the project’s results and implications.
