| dc.description.abstract | This project teaches the providence of God through the use of historical illustrations in expository sermons. Chapter 1 addresses the context of ministry at Pioneer Baptist Church, Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Also an introduction to the significance and scope of this project presented. In chapter 2, a defense of providence and historical illustration is given from Scripture. An exegesis of Matthew 16:18 forms the basis for the sermon series and project. Chapter 3 examines the biblical doctrine of providence as well as comparing and contrasting five common views. Chapter 4 details the process of the project step by step and gives the sermon texts, titles and historical illustrations. Chapter 5 serves as an analysis of the effectiveness of the project to meet the goals, reflecting on strengths and weaknesses of the project as it occurred as well as offering changes that should take place if a similar project were undertaken again. | en_US |
