Chapter I introduces the situation of leadership training in the communist and post-communist Romanian contexts. Important highlights of the evolution of Baptist leadership training are presented. A concise discussion of the proposed issue is included as well as an explanation of the limitations of this study. This chapter presents the nonquantitative research methodology used for gathering and processing the research data. The type of research utilized (qualitative grounded theory) is described, the role of the researcher is explained, and the data gathering procedures are presented by explaining which research tools have been used and how they have been used. Chapter 2 provides an analysis of the biblical grounds for church-based training and examines the role of the Christ-centered church in equipping the believers for ministry and sending them out in the power of the Holy Spirit. Chapter 3 analyzes the Romanian context and provides a relevant historical, cultural, and Christian background of Romania. Attention is given to those elements that have influenced both the secular and religious mindset of the Romanian people. The situation of the Eastern Orthodox Church in Romania is presented by highlighting those historical and theological elements that have influenced and continue to impact the way of living and thinking of most Romanians. The situation of the evangelical churches in Romania is also presented. Finally, an analysis of the differences between the Romanian Eastern Orthodox Church and the evangelical churches is included in this chapter. Chapter 4 examines the research findings. Verification by triangulation is also presented in this chapter, and the findings from different sources are analyzed and compared to each other. An emerging theory for church-based Baptist leadership training in Romania is presented. The theory is based on the analysis and verification of research data. Chapter 5 draws from the research findings and the emerging theory from the fourth chapter and proposes strategic guiding principles for indigenous church-based leadership training in Romania among Baptists. The strategic principles are presented in an orderly manner as they have to be envisioned, designed, and implemented.en_US
