Abstract
This project examines the integration of theological education into the spiritual formation process of the local church. The group for this project consisted of participants from Summit Church in Southwest Florida going through a fifteen-week systematic theology class concentrated on orthodox, evangelical doctrines. The purpose of the class was to engage the participants with theology, considering how those doctrines might inform individual intimacy with God and missional behavior. Chapter 1 describes the need for the project in relation to the particular ministry context. Chapter 2 gives a biblical basis for the integrating theology into the discipleship process of a local church. Chapter 3 considers practical implications for the project. This chapter also evaluates certain ways—preaching, catechesis, and small group environments—that church leaders have disseminated theological information. Chapter 4 consists of a description of the theology class, and chapter 5 serves as an evaluation of the entire project.
