Abstract
The purpose of this project was to train the pastors and deacons of Central Kentucky Network of Baptists located in Lexington, Kentucky, to provide ongoing Soul Care ministries to widows after the week of their husband’s funeral. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the ministry project including goals, ministry context, rationale, and research methodology. Chapter 2 reveals the biblically-centered theological foundation through exegesis of applicable scriptures from both the Old and New Testaments. Chapter 3 explains the far-reaching effects of grief and various grieving styles. Practical ministries are identified with which church leaders can apply to meet the needs of widows. Chapter 4 records each step of the ministry project as it occurred. Chapter 5 evaluates the project and elucidates implications for future training efforts of church leaders in possessing a deeper understanding as to why and how Soul Care ministries need to be provided to widows in the local church.
