Chapter 1 establishes warrant for the examination of the role of preaching in the reform of the denomination and clarifies the methodology to be employed. Chapter 2 provides an examination of Adrian Rogers’ sermon “The Decade of Decision and the Doors of Destiny,” preached at the 1980 annual meeting of the SBC in St. Louis, Missouri. Chapter 3 provides an examination of W. A. Criswell’s sermon “Whether We Live or Die,” preached at the Pastors’ Conference prior to the 1985 annual meeting of the SBC in Dallas, Texas. Chapter 4 provides an examination of Jerry Vines’ sermon “A Baptist and His Bible,” preached at the 1987 annual meeting of the SBC in St. Louis, Missouri.
