The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2017 Faculty Supervisor: Dr. William D. Henard III The purpose of this project was to biblically train and equip deacons of Tanglewood Baptist Church, Odessa, Texas, to share in supportive leadership to the senior pastor in both serving and leading the congregation. Chapter 1gives an overview of the project and the church context that merits its implementation. Chapter 2 examines biblical teaching on the office of deacon and the responsibilities accompanying the office. Chapter 3 researches non sources outside of Scripture concerning biblical leadership in local churches. Chapter 4 gives detailed preparation and implementation of the project. Chapter 5 contains reflections on the project by the author. Strengths, weaknesses, future changes and lessons learned are included.en_US
